While a full moon brightened the Oklahoma sky outside, the Flaming Lips New Year’s Eve Freakout #3 illuminated the Cox Convention Center with otherworldly music, confetti cannons and giant, bounding balloons.
After midnight, the Oklahoma City band and opening act Stardeath and White Dwarfs took their fervent fans to “The Dark Side of the Moon.”
For the third year, the Lips created an outlandish visual and aural spectacle for their hometown holiday show. The estimated crowd of 10,000 delighted in the Grammy-winning rockers’ surrealistic sonic frolicking into the wee hours of New Year’s Day.
